Why Cleaning Your PC Matters
Dust can build up inside your PC over time, especially around dust filters, fans, vents, radiators and case panels. This can reduce airflow, increase temperatures and make your fans work harder than they need to.
A simple clean every 3 to 6 months helps keep your PC cooler, quieter and performing consistently.
What This Guide Covers
- How to safely remove dust from filters and case panels
- What tools to use when cleaning your PC
- What tools and methods to avoid
- How to clean without damaging internal components

Before You Start
- Shut the PC down fully
- Switch the power supply off at the back if your PC has a power switch
- Unplug the power cable
- Move the PC to a safe, stable surface
- Take your time and do not force any panels or parts
Recommended Cleaning Tools
- A soft clean brush
- A microfibre cloth

- Patience and a gentle approach
What To Avoid
- Do not use a household vacuum directly inside the PC
- Do not use water or household cleaning sprays inside the PC
- Do not spin fans aggressively with compressed air
- Do not pull cables or move components unless you know what you are doing
- Do not clean the PC while it is powered on or plugged in
Step By Step Cleaning Guide
Step 1: Power Down And Unplug
Shut the PC down fully, switch the power supply off if your PC has a rear power switch, and unplug the power cable before cleaning.
Step 2: Remove Dust Filters
Remove any dust filters from the front, bottom or top of the case. Clean them gently using a soft brush, cloth or light airflow.
Step 3: Clean The Case Panels
Wipe the outside panels with a microfibre cloth. If your case has glass panels, clean them carefully and avoid spraying liquid directly onto the PC.
Step 4: Clear Dust From Fans And Vents
Use gentle airflow or a soft brush to remove dust from fans, vents and radiator areas. Hold the fans still while cleaning so they do not spin too fast.
Step 5: Check Airflow Areas
Make sure the front intake, rear exhaust, top vents and bottom filter areas are clear. Good airflow helps your PC stay cool while gaming.
Step 6: Refit Everything Before Powering On
Once cleaning is finished, refit the dust filters and panels properly before plugging the PC back in and turning it on.
How Often Should You Clean Your PC?
For most users, cleaning the PC every 3 to 6 months is a good routine. If the PC is kept on the floor, near pets, in a dusty room or used heavily every day, it may need cleaning more often.
The main areas to keep clean are dust filters, fans, vents and radiator areas if your PC has a liquid cooler.
