Step-By-Step Guide
STEP 01
Download DDU
DDU is made by Wagnard. Get it from its official page at wagnardsoft.com, or its official mirror on guru3d.com. It comes as a ZIP — extract it somewhere you can find again, like your Desktop.
Stick to official sources. Other download pages sometimes bundle unwanted extras.
STEP 02
Restart Into Safe Mode
DDU works best in Safe Mode, since the graphics driver isn't actively in use and can be fully removed.
VIASettings → System → Recovery → Advanced startup → Restart now
THENTroubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Restart
ON REBOOTPress 4 or F4 to start in Safe Mode
STEP 03
Run DDU And Clean
- Open the extracted folder and run DDU.exe as administrator.
- Accept the licence/setup screen if one appears.
- Set device type to GPU and pick your brand — NVIDIA, AMD or Intel.
- Click Clean and restart.
Screen may flicker or blank out. That's expected while the driver is removed — don't turn the PC off, let it restart on its own.
STEP 04
Install The New Driver
Windows boots back up on a plain fallback display driver — larger icons, no dedicated GPU acceleration yet. That's a good sign DDU worked.
- Find the installer you saved before starting (Step 0).
- Run it and follow the setup steps.
- Choose Express / Recommended unless you need custom options.
- Restart once more if setup asks you to.
Check it worked: Device Manager (Win + X) → Display adapters — your GPU should be listed with no warning triangle.
If Something Doesn't Look Right
🖤 No display after the DDU restart
⚠️ Driver install fails or won't detect the GPU
Restart once into normal mode first, then run the installer again.
🔁 Same problem comes back after reinstalling
