What is it?
More Than a Conventional Games Console
The Parsnip Drive is based on the powerful AMD BC-250 platform and uses custom firmware together with Bazzite, a gaming-focused Linux operating system. It starts directly in Steam Gaming Mode, creating a familiar console-style experience designed for a television, monitor and game controller.

Configure your own legally obtained game files and enjoy many generations of classic consoles from one unified system.
Linux Desktop
Switch into Desktop Mode for web browsing, communication, productivity, creativity, media and file management.
Living-Room Ready

Is It a Steam Deck?
No, but the gaming experience is very similar. Both systems use a Linux-based gaming environment and compatibility technology to run many games originally developed for Windows. The Parsnip Drive is designed as a compact television or desktop system rather than a handheld device.
How Does It Run Windows Games?
Many Windows games are run through Proton. Proton translates the instructions used by a Windows game so that the game can operate within Linux. A huge number of games work extremely well, although no Linux system can guarantee compatibility with every Windows title.

Important information
What It Cannot Run
The Parsnip Drive does not run Windows. Games requiring Windows-specific kernel-level anti-cheat, TPM 2.0 or Windows Secure Boot will generally be incompatible, regardless of how powerful the hardware is.

This is not a hardware-performance problem
These restrictions exist because of the software and security technologies selected by the game developers. TPM 2.0, Windows Secure Boot and Windows-only kernel anti-cheat cannot simply be installed through a normal update on the Parsnip Drive.
Desktop Mode
It Is Also a Complete Linux PC
Behind the gaming interface is a complete desktop operating system. Connect a keyboard and mouse and switch into Desktop Mode whenever you want to use the Parsnip Drive as a conventional computer.

Controller features can vary
Standard controller inputs are widely supported. More specialised functions such as adaptive triggers, controller audio, motion controls or advanced vibration may not work in every game.

Parsnip Drive FAQs
Will every game that works on Steam Deck work on the Parsnip Drive?
Steam Deck compatibility is an excellent guide, but it is not an absolute guarantee. Differences in hardware, software versions, launchers and game updates can affect compatibility.
Can Windows be installed instead?
The Parsnip Drive is specifically configured and sold as a Bazzite Linux gaming system. Its intended experience, support and advertised functions are based around that configuration.
Can it play Call of Duty or Warzone?
No. Current Call of Duty titles rely on Windows-specific anti-cheat and security features that are not available within the Parsnip Drive’s Linux environment.
Can it run GTA V?
GTA V Story Mode can be compatible. Official GTA Online should be treated as unsupported because of its anti-cheat requirements.
Can I use it like a normal computer?
Yes. Desktop Mode provides a complete Linux desktop environment for web browsing, email, productivity, creativity, media and other compatible Linux applications.
Does Pink Parsnip Computers provide console ROMs?
No. Customers must supply and use their own legally obtained game files and any required console BIOS files.
Can game compatibility change later?
Yes. Developers can change their launchers, anti-cheat systems and technical requirements at any time. A compatible online game could later become unsupported, while an unsupported game could gain Linux support in the future.
